Pronombres Recíprocos en Inglés: Each Other y One Another

Reciprocal Pronouns / Pronombres Recíprocos

Recíproco denota una acción intercambiada entre dos o más sujetos y que recae sobre todos ellos.

Los Pronombres Recíprocos son aquellos que se utilizan para expresar una acción mutua entre dos o más personas, animales o cosas.

Si Pedro habla con Juan y Juan habla con Pedro, expresamos que la acción es recíproca de la siguiente manera:

Pedro and Juan are talking to each other.

Los Pronombres Recíprocos son:

En la práctica ambos Pronombres Recíprocos son utilizados indistintamente, incluso por los nativos. Aunque algunos puristas afirman que each other es utilizado para referirse a 2 personas y one another es utilizado para referirse a más de 2 personas.

El Pronombre Recíproco each other es el más utilizado.

Nota: No confundir los Pronombres Recíprocos con los Pronombres Reflexivos. Observa la diferencia en las siguientes oraciones.

Tom and Jerry killed themselves. (Cada uno de ellos se suicidó).

Tom and Jerry killed each other. (Tom mató a Jerry y Jerry mató a Tom).

Tanto each other como one another pueden tener forma posesiva con el genitivo sajón (apóstrofe más s). Ejemplo:

The couple looked into each other's eyes.
