Preposition + Gerund / Preposición + Gerundio

En inglés, cuando una preposición va seguida de un verbo, ese verbo debe estar en forma de gerundio (verb + ing). Esto ocurre con combinaciones de adjetivo + preposición, verbo + preposición y preposiciones sueltas como without.

La estructura es la siguiente:

Adjective / Verb + Preposition + Verb-ing

Ojo: En español traducimos el gerundio inglés con un infinitivo.

She is interested in learning English. → Ella está interesada en aprender inglés.

Adjetivo + Preposición + Gerundio

Las siguientes combinaciones de adjetivo + preposición son muy frecuentes y siempre van seguidas de gerundio.

Verbo + Preposición + Gerundio

Las siguientes combinaciones de verbo + preposición son muy frecuentes y siempre van seguidas de gerundio.

Without + Gerundio

La preposición without siempre va seguida de gerundio. Equivale a "sin + infinitivo" en español.

They left without finishing the task.	Ellos se fueron sin terminar la tarea.
