El verbo modal might es un verbo modal de uso frecuente en inglés.

Los verbos modales might y may generalmente pueden ser intercambiados sin una diferencia significativa en el significado.

El verbo modal might no puede ser utilizado para expresar deseos. Utiliza may para deseos. Ejemplos:

El verbo modal might es utilizado para expresar los siguientes modos o modalidades: probabilidad, petición, sugerencia.

La contracción mightn't rara vez es utilizada en oraciones negativas con el Verbo Modal Might.

She mights be on the bus.	She might be on the bus. ("might" es un verbo modal y nunca agrega -s en tercera persona)

Do I might have something to eat?	Might I have something to eat? (los verbos modales no necesitan el auxiliar "do"; "might" mismo se invierte con el sujeto)
I don't might go to the party.	I might not go to the party. (la negativa se forma agregando "not" directamente, sin auxiliar "do")

"Might" expresa una probabilidad todavía más baja o incierta que "may" o "could". I might go to the party comunica menos certeza que I may go to the party — aunque en la práctica muchos hablantes nativos los usan de forma casi intercambiable.
"Might" nunca se usa para expresar deseos o bendiciones — esa función es exclusiva de "may". Se dice May you have a happy marriage, nunca "Might you have a happy marriage" — esta es una de las pocas diferencias verdaderamente estrictas entre ambos verbos.
"You might want to..." es una forma muy suave y cortés de dar una sugerencia o incluso una instrucción indirecta. You might want to take a break no pregunta si quieres o no un descanso — es una manera educada de sugerir que lo tomes, muy común en el habla profesional y cotidiana en inglés.
